Company gossips

Never enter into gossips that colleagues starts.
They are not having that courage to speak in front of others.
They will start gossips offline and shows their frustation.
Never comment on colleagues when that targeted person is absent.
Think once . How much bad it will be ?

Am I becoming too good?

Today I called one of my schoolmate (Vizag).
Last month he called me and asked me 15k for his sister marriage.
I know his family very well.
His sister now turned 30 and finally she is getting to be married.
And they are poor.
I know he cant return that amount.100% sure.
I gave him 10k.
Today he called me and he was happy that his sister is getting married.
Yes I felt happy that my earning helped him.
Right now I am getting good salary.
I have to think for other possible ways.May be it is possible thru my company.
And I can be useful more.

Observations of Bdotnet event 27th Oct 2007

Hi All

I am happy to write feedback about the launch of our new Bdotnet site.

I am writing my observations here.

Really Kashi , Vic ,Vinod ,Anil Mahadev ,Venkat etc have put so many efforts for the success of that event.

Moonlight in Linux, Deepak Gulati, Microsoft.

Its a nice session.  He gave an insight into Silverlight.Already We have a nice introduction session on Silverlight by Jason earlier.

If Deepak stressed more on Moonlight than basics of Silverlight then it will be more useful. For the beginners of Silverlight it is 100% useful.

Gadgets loka by Dr. Pavanaja

Its nice to hear speech of Pavanaja. It is mix of technical with funny things.

Htc Touch (Windows mobile 6 device) . He showed a mobile which has features like Book Reading, Music , Outlook integration etc. visit mobile.htc.com for more details.

Wireless notebook laser presenter mouse :

It has zooming facility to highlight the selected text.

On the back side it has some buttons which works like left and right clicks.

It has laser beam which will be useful during presentations.

He showed a pen which can be used as USB and MP3 and like a normal pen .

Then

Vinod has showed Snipping tool to capture screen shots. Very useful for the developers.

He told about GPRS. itunes etc.

Then Kalpash session on "Search Engine Marketing and Optimization ( SE0)

It is some bit different session from the other BDotnet sessions. But it is useful one. He gave insight of how to make our site as most ranked site.

What are the optimization techniques ? What are the ranking factors and offline factors? How to index our site content?

WordTracker, Overture, Google Adwords etc will help us in making our site as top visiting site.

Kalpash has to give a full session on this to reveal more to the group.

Then finally

Final Note:

Speakers should sit beside to members( always speakers are sitting in the last row in a group) so that new members can interact more.

Change the mindset.

I met some people in this 4 yrs of my career as a developer.
If you have eager to learn nobody can stop you from that.
Still Some people doesnt understood this fact.

Book review: Our IceBerg is melting

Here I want to give the review of book "Our IceBerg is melting" that I read yesterday.
I want to compare the characters of the book with my team members.

Is MVP tag required

Is MVP tag required?

Are Certifications required?

Is Company brand name required?

Is Technical Evangalist tag required beside our name???

My opinion was changed after joining in this project (Proteans)...

The above are not at all required for a developer.

Moving my daily activities to another blog

Actually I started this blog for technical purpose.
Right now I am adding more general topics.

I will move these general topics into another blog.

About Love

Am I am moving away from this (and from girls) these days?

I proposed 3 girls one at the end of my engineering ,then before leaving Caritor and one here.

I use to like girls who are having good attitude and as usual who has some spirit to achieve something in life.

I cant speak with girls who are not having the above qualities.

Ok may be I have to change for my personal growth.

Unit-Testing and Test-Driven Development

Referred from http://golios.blogspot.com/2007/06/wednesday-sessions-unit-testing-and.html

  • Unit-tests are a “living document” that reflects the intended use of the software.
  • Advantage of many small unit-tests: allows you to narrow down the scope of failure upon change.
  • A unit-test cares about its class only.
  • You typically have more lines of UT code than actual code.
  • TDD is ATRIP:
    • Automatic,
    • Thorough,
    • Repeatable (doesn’t depend on dynamic data),
    • Independent (one class only),
    • Professional (well written, commented, easy to maintain).
  • VS2008 Professional will include Unit-Testing (This one triggered a round of aplause).
  • Test-driven development: Red, Green,Refactor.
    • Red: make it fail. Ensure the test fails with a method that's not yet implemented.
    • Green: make it work. Code the minimum to satisfy the test (even if the code is crap).
    • Refactor: make it better. Improve the code, make it easier to maintain.
  • TDD requires discipline (no kidding).
  • Pair programming: one writes the unit-tests, the other writes the implementation.

About Relatives

About the things happened in the last 3 days!!!!!!

Last 3 days are one of the hectic days in my life.
I worked more than my capability (its physical and mental work).
One of my neighbour have taken a new house.
So function was arranged. They asked my help.
I took leave ( on Monday)
Their relatives came on last Saturday.
We prepared food and took 3 houses for rent.
Yesterday their colleagues also came for lunch.
So last 3 days are very hectic as I took responsibility for food and arrangements( like chairs , shamiyana, vessels etc).
Arrangements for 100 people is very difficult.

My inference:
I learned the personal relations and I am confident now that I am very capable of money and party managements.

I got one conclusion also.
Relatives never helps in functions. I  thought they will share my work. But nobody done.
Earlier I thought that my relatives are bad.
Now I felt happy that they are better than other's relatives.
Atleast my relatives will unite in the time of functions and work together.

Getting fruits for my efforts...

Till now I am thinking that I kept lot of effort in my work as a developer.
In some companies they recognized my efforts but not in some companies.

Now I understood the reasons from the above blog.
Lacking of expressive skills and managerial skills.
Concentrating on these areas.

True Joy of Work

collected from http://www.bipinjoshi.com/

True Joy of Work

Once upon a time a young boy from a remote village of India wrote a poem. He showed his first creation to his loving mother. She liked it and wholeheartedly encouraged his son. The young boy was overjoyed. Then happened a strange thing. He went straight to the near by river and took out the paper on which he had written the poem. He made a paper boat out of it and happily floated it in the river. His friends were surprised. They asked him about his strange act. With face still overflowing with joy he said - "I wrote that poem for my own satisfaction. I never expected that others will like it too. I do not care if anybody else likes it or not. The joy that I gained from my creation is not dependent on anybody's applause."

This boy later became a trusted follower of Mahatma Gandhi and well-known social reformer - Acharya Vinoba Bhave. This story tells us a very important fact. Many people work throughout their lives to please others. While doing so they crave for fame and applause. When you complete a task always ask yourself - Am I satisfied with my work? Have I done my job sincerely and wholeheartedly? Can I take pride in signing on my work?

If answers to the above questions are no then you are slave of false pride and applause. You are not allowing your true Self to flourish. If you cannot justify your work with your true Self then you are cheating yourself. So, the next time you take up any task keep this story in mind and you will see how this change in the attitude results in a deep satisfaction and joy.

May be it is giving answer for my long standing problem...

Silverlight bloggers

In the short time that Silverlight has been out there in the open, there is a tremendous amount of energy and enthusiasm around it.

Specifically, there are some really cool blogs that are a must-read if you are a Silverlight developer or just an enthusiast.

I thought I'll list them down so you can add them to your RSS reader:

1. Mike Harsh - http://blogs.msdn.com/mharsh/

I love Mike's blog - he aggregates all the cool applications/prototypes that people around the world are writing on Silverlight - some of the real cool stuff make it on his blog and are always awesome applications that make your jaw drop!

2. Scott Gu - http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/

I guess everybody knows Scott Guthrie - In his recent posts, he has put up slides to keynote talks on Silverlight. Available here, here and here. Also check out other Silverlight (and WPF/E) posts on his blog - good tips/tricks.

3. Tim Sneath - http://blogs.msdn.com/tims/

I used to read Tim Sneath 's blog from the days of WPF first coming out.  Tim has reams of great content and posts on WPF and Silverlight on his blog.

4. Nick Kramer - http://blogs.msdn.com/nickkramer/

Nick Kramer is again one of those people who blogged a lot about WPF and is now blogging on Silverlight as well.  Lots of code samples and snippets.

5. Ashish Shetty - http://nerddawg.blogspot.com/

Ashish Shetty has a nice collection of stuff around Silverlight, Expression and WPF.

6. Vivek Dalvi - http://vivekdalvi.wordpress.com/

At first, I didn't quite see too much content - you then have to check through some of the archives and the top posts list to see a lot of good stuff.

7. Joe Stegman - http://blogs.msdn.com/jstegman/

Another Microsoft blogger and MIX 07 presenter whose blog you don't want to miss

To get most of these in one place, you can also subscribe to the Silverlight RSS feed we host on the Silverlight.net website - http://silverlight.net/blogs/microsoft/rss.aspx

Frustation

I really felt bad what I did 10 days back in the project standup.
I showed my frustation in the standup meeting.
Its not my intension to show the frustation but I want to tell the style sheets problem.
I spoke in a wrong way not in a constructive way.
Never showed like that earlier.
But felt very bad now.
Its a lesson and I shouldn't happen in my life. I will take care.
