Beginning of the ending

One of the best years as per career wise.
I worked in 4 different projects . One on Speech technology (including mobile application) , one on windows application (Reporting Services) ,
one on MS CRM and final one on .net 3.5 (with WCF and LINQ).
I was very satisfied.
My mantra is "FOCUS" for the coming projects.
I got the valuable point from my CEO.
Till now I didnt understand why I am not getting my returns for my efforts.
I dont want to be in Maintenance projects or phases. Thats why I use to ask my PMs or Management to relieve me at the end of the project. As I mentioned
earlier I dont want to stay in the maintenance phase.I assumed that they understood my intention. But I did a mistake. They are thinking I am not happy with
the team and project. My intention is differrent. I dont want to waste company's time just coming at 10 and leaving at 6 by staying in maintenance phases.
My intention is always to bring new clients and projects and next phases for the company. Thats why I always ask for a release at the end. When I heard the
words from my Management that I am not happy with the teams really I felt bad.I understood where I went wrong. Once I asked the management for JAVA project.
I am a dotnet resource. But my intention is why to sit idle waiting for the next phases from the client.
Thanks to my CEO Sudhakar and Prashant for giving correct feedback.
It has effected me significantly.
Now I know how to get my returns.
"FOCUS" is the mantra for me.
But at the same time I want to be ALL-ROUNDER.
I want to learn new technologies. That is my nature. I clearly explained to management also. I really like my management. They always have time for hearing
the concerns of the employees. Thanks Sudhakar for understanding me properly.

The next satisfying word when I worked in CRM team this year. My practice manager Venkat said "Thanks" to me. We have to complete the project within 1 month.
Only 4 persons. I have to go to Chennai for an very important personal work. I told the same to my TL and Venkat.Venkat told me that "it is upto you. As an
experienced and responsible guy u can decide". I know the importance of the client and the impact of project success. So I cancelled my tour and worked on
weekends and we could able to give a nice demo on Monday.Venkat said "Thanks". I really felt happy.

Regarding last year:
I am very much convinced with the feedback of my last year project.
But I gave my best there. It doesnt mean I have not done anything. Comparing with other team members I may not perform well and may not reach expectations.
I am better than programmers in other teams.
I learned so much there. Sendhil and PrakashJ are my favorites forever.
In my tenure here I can say loudly Gaurav is my best friend and Saai too.
Because I never saw a change in their behaviour when I was moved out of their team. They behaved the same when I am not in the team.

I always expects reply for my mails. My CEOs always have  time for giving reply. I like it very much. Proteans is far far better than my earlier companies and so many companies in Bangalore too.
Every department get back to us and resolve the issues mentioned in the mail.
Flexible timings.I love it.One of the best thing I liked in Proteans.
Earlier almost all (PMs) use to write code. But as the company grown we cant expect this now from everyone.
Things that has to change in my company:
HR dept has to respond more than present situation
Expecting better Networking IT infrastructure.
Last year at the same time I gave feedback to TRAINING dept in Proteans.I dont know whether they considered it or not.
But  I saw the change what I expected.
Really everybody got the benefit. I love it.
Cab facility: One of the best facility in Proteans. At any time you can concentrate on work without worrying about the transport facility.
It has given more flexibility to me. The best driver here is Jalal. Thanks to the admin for implementing effectively.
Once I got a mail regarding GREEN movement in company. Some registered. After that no movement in that.I will remember this to the members.
I could able to successfully complete the whole year by keeping my promise that I should walk from home to office.
I use to come to office in the morning by walk. 48 minutes walk. It is helping my maintaining my body mass and my support for environment friendly.
I saw a big difference in the way Thoughtworks works. Even a tester writes code there. Recently I saw an INFRA guy writing useful code for his IT management
purpose. I want the same here in Proteans.
As we are growing dont rely completely on policies.

Some sorrow moments:
HR words: Is Sreedhar required in the company? Regarding my blog post (bakara).
My salary package. After the feedback I was convinced with the management.

In my tenure I am always having the problem to identify the difference between personal and professional relations.
In the last project I understood it.
No more personal relations if I am in office. If any mistake was done (by me or others) I will tell. Usually I use to think that it will hurt personal
relations.
People wont listen if we are telling silently. In the team meetings we have to tell them by showing the proofs.
I shouted like anything in my last project. It has not effected any relation. They understood the problem which I am explaining. Earlier I am a calm goer in
team meetings.I understood the mistake now.

Regarding PMs:
Always they gives feedback. I never saw a company who takes feedback about PM from his team.
Things that I cant change myself are:
I hate ladies' attitude. They will give more importance to their personal life even in project critical times. Thats why I cant work properly with them.
I will go to technical meetings. PMs dont stop me for that.I know what are my responsibilities and roles.
PMs: If you are not writing code you have no right for project planning. Just stay upto management. Dont come to technical aspects. I dont want to listen
jargons , some dummy things on air.Its my personal opinion.
I love truth, honesty in my working environment and the people who are around me. I always tells truth at any cost. Even it is spoiling my way. I cant tell lies.
It may hurt others in the beginning. But so many of my friends likes of me because of this only. Even it created problems to me.But at the end I feel happy that I have not changed my morals and principles.
Whatever I want to speak I wont hesitate to speak. May be I am wrong.
I dont want to work in Maintenance phases (if not new technology for me) . I will assume that company is not utilising me properly.
My intension is always getting projects and clients. I love this work.
PMs: Dont think that it is your right to ask people to come on weekends. I know my responsibilities clearly. I always gave 200%.
I love technology , tech seminars more than money.
I worked more than previous year. More comp offs.
I dont fear saying my feedback. I enjoyed it. I like a better environment. If u have taken negative its upto u. I am responsible for my writings.

Good things last year:
I met so many nice techies. I attended so many seminars and participated in user groups. Understood how the market is going.
Adobe is coming into Microsoft space and even Microsoft is entering into ERP,flash space..
My blog ambatisreedhar.wordpress.com got huge response. So many people are getting useful information from that.

Unfortunately I could able to involve for 2 months in Janaagraha NGO. I want to involve and indulge more in social activities. Will focus more.

New year:
I want to work on SHAREPOINT. I got approval also. But I have to prove. I am having the weapons now. I am ready.
Its not for adding sharepoint to my profile.I love new technology.
I want to have one laptop for becoming more productive.
I want net connection at my room.

Feedback about project managers???

Project Managers gives feedback about their team and why it is not happening in reverse way??

This is just my little thought hanging from the past 5 years

SQLCAT

I saw this site in Microsoft Signature building Bangalore.

Very useful information about Sqlserver.

If it is displayed in usergroup sites it will reach more developers. More will get benefit.

UG Meet was on 6th Dec 2008 feedback

Last UG Meet was on 6th Dec 2008

Session 1: Application Installation and Deployment Scenarios
Speaker: Vijay, Microsoft MVP
Time: 4PM

Session 2: Disaster Recovery with SQL Server
Speaker: Vinod Kumar, Microsoft
Time: 5PM

Hi friends

After a long time I thought I have to write my opinion on Bdotnet sessions.

I like attending technical sessions and I love it. And at the same time I will give my feedback then & there. I dont want to hurt anybody. Thats why nowadays I am selective about giving feedbacks to sessions which are really worthful from developer angle.

When I saw the Bdotnet announcement about the above sessions the first point that striked me is VINOD. He never dissatisfied me.So I thought I have to go at any cost. From last 6 months I am having very hectic schedules.

About Vijay session

------------------------------

Its excellent.I heard a great session after a long time. Actually I attended his last session in BangaloreITPRO about the same topic but from Infrastructure team perspective. I want to give feedback in BITPRO at that time only. It is his first presentation there also.

Here for us he changed the content and he explained from developer angle. I didnt feel that I am attending his session for the second time. What a wonderful presentation... Really superb. He is very accurate to the points. He proved why Microsoft has chosen him as MVP.

Then Vinod session: As usual its good and he gave so much idea on DR. I learned so many things from his presentation.

The first session lasted for 1.30 hrs and Vinod too. And the greatest things is audience have showed more interest.

--------------------

My concerns:

=-----------------------

I am observing other Microsoft user groups and sessions in other cities. Especially Pune ,Hyderabad,Kolkata groups. So many sessions and on different topics.

We are in IT hub Bangalore. And most of the well known Microsoft techies are here. And we lost the momentum which is there 3 months back.

And Microsoft is releasing so many softwares , showing new concepts and coming with new technologies. Why cant we have sessions on these and why cant Microsoft guys can help us in understanding those new topics.

As a normal developer I cant get time in office hours (usually my timings are 9 am - 10pm) to view virtual tech days or other interesting stuff that is happenings in different Microsoft events in different countries. If the Microsoftsessions are happening in weekdays how we can come.

Never saw a session on Microsoft Dynamics suite except Navision. Why cant we have sessions on these upcoming areas. And we know Microsoft is concentrating more on BI and DW too. We want sessions on Azure platform and Cloud computing platforms. And in 2009 Microsoft is releasing so many products like Sharepoint, CRM which are consuming SAAS .And we are not having any sessions at all. Without educating the developer community what is the use of releasing these concepts and softwares into the market.

Earlier Pandurang came and he gave nice presentations on Silverlight.

Like that I am requesting other Microsoft guys (who are having expertise in their areas) to come to Bdotnet and teach us.

Navision training feedback

Abhishek first explained all the modules with full details and then showed the demos .

It made us to have lot of doubts in the middle of his explanation and made people to interrupt his session.

Sreejith participated in this training and he followed a different approach in his training. He showed one module ,then Q&A, and then demo and then he moved to different module.

Here lot of interruptions happened in this session because of having doubts about the functionality of Navision in the minds of audience.

At the end  he showed a full demo of all the modules. It made us understand the application and answered so many doubts.

Good session Abhishek.

Expecting more deep dive sessions on Navision in future.

I am very happy to be part of this training.

GP training feedback

In my current company I got a chance to paritcipate in Great Plains training.

Excellent session.
The way Sreejith approached to present the session was really good.
First he explained the introduction to GP,terms, the modules in a brief manner.
Then he gave question and answer booklet. He asked us to answer.
So many doubts arised in our minds.
It made us to pay attention in further discussions and made us to think about how GP works.
Then he has taken one by one module and explained the navigation with a real time scenario and Q&A section followed after each module.
He followed this till end. The example that he covered was: how a customer places an order and how a seller serves it and how this entire process carries out in GP. Almost everybody participated in the discussions.
Questions asked by audience really gave more idea on GP.
Missing point is: How a developer should start working from the coding perspective ?
Thanks Sreejith for presenting a wonderful session.
